Saudi Arabia Postpones Tax Fines and Financial Penalties until the end of 2024

On June 30, 2024, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced another postponement of tax fines and financial penalties until 31 December 2024. This decision comes as an extension to a previous decision exempting taxpayers from penalties for a certain period.

Timeline

Unless there is another postponement, the fines will be effective from 1 January 2025.

Impact

To benefit from the postponement, taxpayers must be registered for tax purposes, submit all tax returns and disclose all their tax liabilities.

In the announcement, ZATCA explains that their decision is motivated by helping taxpayers stay compliant and reducing the adverse economic impact of fines on them.
